Be in the Moment!!!

The moment is a wonderous thing!

In reality…it’s all we have.

The past is behind us, the future yet to come.

The moment is now, the moment is here, the moment is all there is.

But how do we get to the point of living in this moment?

Through the ever-changing modern life we all live in, it is becoming harder for people to live in the moment.

Life is full of distractions…and the biggest distraction we all have is about 6inches tall.

Our phones!

The ping from a message, the ping from a ‘like’, a comment, a friend request.

Notifications from emails, text messages, and all the social-media platforms attached to that 6inch device that sits in your pocket.

Ping, ping, ping.

Instant attention. Instant gratification. Instant conversations. Conversations that actually reduce the art-of-conversing.

Loneliness and isolation are at an all time high.

Technology was meant to bring us together, and instead it has made us become further and further apart.

We worry and stress about the unknown and uncertainty of experiences.

So many people live with a racing mind; one thought to another, to another, to another.

These thoughts intertwine into each other, and we don’t even know what we’re thinking about: our dinner, the words uttered to a colleague, your wife, the bills, your childhood experiences.

All mixed into one pot of thinking.

Focus and attention eludes us.

Worrying involves unrealistic thinking. The uncertain, and unknown events we play out in our minds.

Stressing about the future: I should be here, there…somewhere other than where I am! I need this to make me happy! Etc etc…

Worrying about the past: She done this to me! Why does this always happen to me? I AM A VICTIM OF MY PAST!

When we calm our minds, our thinking becomes clearer.

And in clarity we find solutions.

When you calm your mind, you can see more clearly.

A clear mind supports us to be in the moment.

This moment!

In this moment you are reading. Experiencing the joy of reading.

In this moment there is no past, or future.

The things in your life you feel bring you stress, and worry are not here right now.

Living in your moment, being present for it, brings a sense of calmness and joy.

When you are doing the dishes, do the dishes. Be grateful for the food you have eaten.

When you are in work, be in work. Leave behind the morning argument about the dishes, the dishes didn’t come to work with you.

When you are with your children, be present…listen, respond, play, laugh and enjoy the experience.

Obviously not all experiences are like this, there are times when the present moment is stressful, and overwhelming.

Even in these moments, be present, feel the trueness of the emotion. Don’t run from it, face it! Know it! We are human-beings, and every emotion will come at some point in your life.

The answer to your problems is not always what you think it should be.

Be in the moment!!
